os Angeles has a thriving cycling community that continues to grow and develop.

On any given Saturday you’ll find a variety of cycling groups heading out in the early morning to kick off the weekend. Some groups will take a lane on the Pacific Coast Highway to explore the hills from Santa Monica to Malibu and beyond, while others will come together for a classic social ride.

The amount of riding here from road to gravel to mountain biking along with the consistent weather has fostered a community of avid cyclists and in turn has attracted brands to come to LA and setup shop.

The latest one to come to LA is Pedal Mafia which just opened up a place on Main Street in Santa Monica.

About the Brand

Pedal Mafia is an Australian cycling clothing brand that was started in 2014 by avid cyclists. The brand focuses on creating stylish cycling apparel that’s made out of premium materials.

They offer a range of apparel products and accessories from jerseys, bibs, vests, baselayers, jackets, socks, and more.

Like many other brands they have a few different levels of cycling apparel from their base line called Core all the way to their Pro Line which is the most expensive.

Outside of their physical shop here in Santa Monica you can find Pedal Mafia in shops all around the world and online through their website.

If you do happen to visit their store they also sell shoes and other cool cycling products.

My Initial Thoughts So Far

A rack of Pedal Mafia clothing.

The staff in the store were very welcoming and excited to have you try on their products and learn about their brand.

I have yet to try out all their offerings but I ended up winning a bright purple custom jersey from them during one of their launch parties with the cycling club La Grange

Like any cyclist I was excited about receiving a new jersey for free but I know I would not wear it if the jersey did not fit well or was uncomfortable. After using it for a few rides I can say the quality is very nice and it fits well. Pedal Mafia so far appears right up there with some of the other brands I use from Mapp, Café du Cycliste, and Rapha.

I typically don’t wear a lot of color with my cycling outfits but the comfort, fit, and styling of the jersey has caused me to pick this up a bit more than the other jerseys I have in my closet. It could also be it's the shiny new thing.

I’ll report back once I’ve had more time to try their bibs and other items, but so far I’ve been impressed and would consider them in the future when I'm looking to further add to my cycling outfits.

More Local Content Coming

I hope this post was helpful for those looking for cycling related shops in LA. I plan to share more of the LA cycling community on my blog in the future and will continue to post LA cycling routes here.
